Two passenger buses in head on collision – both drivers dead

A Mercedes Sprinter bus has collided with a Ford bus after a wrong overtaking. Three persons have been confirmed dead.

The fatal accident happened at Sege in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday, December 4, 2021, involving a Sprinter bus and a Ford passenger bus.

Seven other passengers are said to have sustained various degrees of injuries and were transported to hospital.

The Sprinter passenger bus was heading towards Accra while the Ford bus was travelling towards Aflao.

Upon reaching a section of the road, the Sprinter driver overtook a tipper truck in front of it but there were two other cars, hence no space for him. Unfortunately, he collided with the Ford which was also speeding from the opposite direction.

Both vehicles were damaged beyond repair and it took personnel from the Fire Service to cut and remove passengers who were trapped.

The two drivers and a passenger, died on the spot. The victims were rushed to various hospitals in pickup vehicles plying the road before Ambulances and police arrived on the scene.
