Confusion at Rawlings’ house as NDC is ‘blocked’ from signing the book of condolences

Former President John Dramani Mahama on Friday was compelled by circumstances to sign the book of condolence for the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Jerry John Rawlings at the Adabraka Headquarters of the party.

According to a member of the legal team of the party, Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, the book was taken away by some members of the bereaved family after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had signed.

In the ensuing drama, the NDC open a book of condolence at the party’s headquarters and directed members to go there and sign with those in the regions to do same at the Regional Secretariats.

The private legal practitioner who bemoaned what transpired wrote “Book of condolence taken away after Mr Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia signed. Others permitted to sign from Monday”

Meanwhile, former President John Dramani Mahama who later signed the one open at the NDC Headquarters wrote “Boss,  It is difficult to come to terms with your shocking exit. But you’ve always been unconventional and acted on your own terms. The rest of us your comrades are left to mourn you. But beyond mourning your departure, we have a duty and responsibility to ensure that your person and your principles receive their deserved place in the history of Ghana.

Leader of the Revolution, Founder of the 4th Republic and Midwife of the longest period of democratic governance in history and nobody can take that away.

Fare thee well, boss”
