Police on manhunt for suspect who killed girlfriend in the Volta Region

The Ghana Police is on a search for a man, known only as “Frank” who is suspected to have killed his girlfriend and kept her body in a refrigerator at Ho-Fiave in the Volta Region.

Public Relations Officer for the region command, DSP Afia Tenge says neighbours of the suspect broke into his room after unbearable stench was emanating from it on Monday, November 22.

House flies had also been hovering around the windows and door to the room, she said. After the police forced their way into the room, they found the girlfriend of the tenant, only known as Lizzy, dead in a refrigerator. However, the tenant, Frank was nowhere to be found.

An investigative team proceeded to the scene and after careful inspection of the crime scene, the body which was at an advanced state of decomposition in a refrigerator.

Police (CID) are said to have picked up evidence of what is believed to be the burnt hair of the deceased from the residence.

Remnants of burnt human hair and a rod used to control the burning were discovered at the backyard of the suspect’s house.

Also the body of the deceased aside being stuffed in the refrigerator was covered with a heap of blood-soaked clothes and carpet in an attempt to conceal it.

Police are also said to have picked up some documents from the room to help with investigations and also help identify the victim and the suspect properly.

The police are yet to make out the relatives of the deceased to inform them about the situation. A search is underway to trace and arrest the said boyfriend who is believed to be on the run.
