Election 2024 : EC responds to NDC’s petition

The Electoral Commission (EC) has acknowledged receiving a petition from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the ‘Enough is Enough’ demonstration held on Tuesday.
The NDC is pushing for a forensic audit of the voters’ register ahead of the December 7 elections, expressing concerns about its credibility.
In a statement signed by Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman of Operations, the EC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a credible and reliable final voters’ register, noting that the process is still in its early stages.
Tettey emphasized the importance of the voters’ register in ensuring transparent elections and assured the NDC and the public that the Commission is open to engaging on these concerns.
“We assure the NDC and all stakeholders of our dedication to delivering a credible and robust Final Register for the December 2024 Elections,” he added.
While the EC has promised to review the NDC’s petition, a formal response will follow soon. Meanwhile, the EC reiterated its willingness to maintain dialogue, highlighting the need for cooperation to safeguard the election’s integrity.
The NDC’s protest across all 16 regions of the country sought greater transparency in the electoral process, specifically demanding an audit of the voters’ roll to address discrepancies.
The EC’s response signals readiness for further engagement, with stakeholders, including the NDC, closely monitoring the finalization of the voters’ register as the December elections approach.
