My son is not a monster – Diddy’s mother insists

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mother, Janice Small Combs, has expressed her deep sadness over the allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering against her son, calling them “lies.” In a statement released through her lawyer, she defended Diddy, acknowledging that while he may have made mistakes in the past, he is not the “monster” he has been portrayed to be.

Her statement comes as the musician faces multiple legal battles, with more than 100 potential accusers alleging sexual assault, rape, and exploitation. Despite the serious accusations, Diddy’s legal team continues to deny all charges, calling them “false and defamatory.”

The case intensified last year when Diddy’s former partner, Cassie Ventura, accused him of rape and abuse—a case that was settled out of court. Following this, 12 other women came forward with similar accusations. The case took a further turn when a 2016 video surfaced, showing Diddy physically assaulting Ventura, which he later admitted to and apologized for.

Janice Small Combs acknowledged the video in her statement, explaining that her son had not been entirely truthful about certain aspects of his past but maintained that this one incident did not make him guilty of all other allegations. She criticized how the legal team settled Ventura’s lawsuit, believing it was used against her son as an implied admission of guilt by the authorities.

Despite these challenges, Ms. Small Combs expressed heartbreak over the public’s swift judgment of her son, emphasizing that some of the accusers may be financially motivated. Diddy remains in a Manhattan detention center, with his legal team preparing for a bail hearing scheduled for October 9. Prosecutors had previously argued against his release, citing concerns that he might interfere with the investigation.
