Bawumia promises to revive Juapong textiles with ‘Buy Ghana First’ policy

New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to enhance local manufacturing through his “Buy Ghana First” policy. During his campaign tour in the Volta Region, Dr. Bawumia engaged with local stakeholders, including chiefs, religious leaders, and Imams in Juapong, North Tongu Constituency.

Dr. Bawumia explained that this policy, to be enshrined in law, will mandate sourcing essential goods from local manufacturers before allowing imports only if local production cannot meet demand. He highlighted the importance of reviving local industries like Juapong Textiles, which would benefit from the policy, helping to boost the country’s manufacturing sector.

The acting Paramount Chief of Juapong, Togbe Kokroko Ananse Titriku III, expressed his support for Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, expressing optimism that it would lead to significant development in North Tongu and the Volta Region.
