“40th National Farmers’ Day Celebration Focuses on Climate-Resilient Agriculture”

The 40th edition of Ghana’s National Farmers’ Day, a significant annual event honoring the essential contributions of farmers and fishermen to Ghana’s economy and food security, is scheduled for Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Greater Accra Region. This year’s theme, “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security,” highlights Ghana’s dedication to advancing agricultural practices that address climate change impacts.

Leading up to the event, Agrifest Ghana 2024, a five-day National Agricultural Fair, will take place from November 4 to November 8. This fair will showcase Ghana’s agricultural heritage and foster knowledge sharing and innovation among farmers and industry stakeholders.

The event will conclude with a National Awards Night on November 8, where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will present awards in 16 categories, including Overall National Best Farmer, National Best Livestock Farmer, and National Best Female Farmer. This year, the date has been moved from December to November in anticipation of the 2024 general elections. National Farmers’ Day also aims to encourage sustainable practices among farmers, fostering a climate-resilient agricultural sector in the face of growing environmental challenges.
