Speaker of Parliament Approves NIB’s Request to Investigate Two MPs

Accra, Ghana – April 3, 2025 – The Speaker of Parliament has granted approval for the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to interact with two Members of Parliament (MPs), Mustapha Yussif (MP for Yagaba Kubori) and Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus) (MP for Gomoa Central), regarding an undisclosed investigation.

Scheduled Meeting Details

  • The MPs are to appear before NIB officials for a preliminary interaction on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
  • The meeting will take place at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room within Parliament House.
  • They will be accompanied by their lawyers as per parliamentary protocols.

Official Communication from Parliament

A letter signed by the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, dated April 2, 2025, confirmed the Speaker’s decision, citing Articles 117 and 118 of the 1992 Constitution, existing security protocols, and public interest considerations.

The letter further instructed NIB officials to liaise with Parliament’s Legal Services Office upon their arrival for the meeting.

Reason for Investigation Unknown

While Parliament has granted the request, the specific reasons for the NIB’s interest in the two MPs remain undisclosed.
