Image redemption time for Black Stars as they face Angola in AFCON qualifers Friday

Ghana’s Black Stars are heading into a high-stakes match against Angola’s Palancas Negras on Friday, November 15, in Luanda, as they fight to keep their AFCON 2025 qualification hopes alive. With only two points from four games, the Black Stars are in a challenging position, needing to win both remaining matches and hope for Sudan, who has seven points, to lose theirs.

Coach Otto Addo has announced a 25-man squad largely composed of foreign-based players to bring fresh energy to the campaign. While public confidence has waned after a series of disappointing results, the Ghana Football Association has stood behind Addo, citing his potential for growth based on early promising performances.

The game is also a chance for redemption after Angola’s 1-0 win over Ghana in Kumasi ended Ghana’s over 20-year unbeaten streak at the Baba Yara Stadium. This time, however, Ghana will be without key players, including Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, and Mohammed Salisu, all sidelined due to injuries. Players like Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Kudus Mohammed are expected to step up in their absence, with Kudus eager to make a strong impact.

Angola, already qualified for AFCON, will use the match to entertain their home fans. With talented players like Zito Luvumbo, Cristavao Mabululu, and Cafumana Show, Angola will aim to secure a perfect qualifying record.

For Ghana, a win could bring renewed hope to fans and keep their AFCON dreams alive. The outcome in Luanda will not only be about qualification but also about restoring national pride and resilience.
