We’ll decide which party to support for Election 2024 – GFP

The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has announced plans to decide which political party it will endorse in the December 2024 elections, following the disqualification of its replacement flagbearer, Philip Appiah Kubi. The disqualification, announced by Electoral Commission (EC) Chair Jean Mensa, cited significant issues and legal inconsistencies in Kubi’s nomination form, even after a 10-day grace period to correct them.

In light of this setback, GFP’s National Organiser, Richard Botchway, informed the press in Accra that the party’s national executives would convene to determine which candidate or party they will support in the upcoming polls. “We’ll meet… and we will throw our support to one political party,” Botchway stated.

He also clarified that despite the recent challenges, the GFP is united and committed to preserving the legacy of their late founder, Akua Donkor, who passed away in October. Botchway emphasized the party’s plans to restructure and build a solid foundation for the next election cycle, ensuring that a well-prepared candidate will represent the GFP in future contests.
