Election 2024: We have no side; we’ll remain professional – Dampare
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to neutrality and professionalism during the December 7 general elections. He emphasized that the Police Service remains impartial and dedicated to upholding the law without bias.
Speaking at the commissioning of a new state-of-the-art police station in Akyem Muoso in the Eastern Region, Dr. Dampare warned against electoral violence and assured that the police would not tolerate any attempts to undermine the country’s peace before, during, or after the elections.
“The Ghana Police Service is for the country and its people. We do not belong to any side in the elections; we are here to serve the people and protect you. So we will remain neutral and professional during the elections and beyond,” Dr. Dampare stated.
The IGP urged citizens to prioritize national peace and avoid being influenced to engage in violent activities. He stressed that security is a collective responsibility and called on everyone to support efforts to maintain stability.
In addition to Akyem Muoso, Dr. Dampare also inaugurated two new police stations at Moseaso and Abekoase in the Eastern Region, bringing the total to three facilities commissioned on the same day. These modern facilities aim to strengthen the police’s capacity to fight crime and enhance security.
The Chiefs and community members present at the events lauded the police administration for its dedication to improving law enforcement and ensuring the safety of citizens.
