Asantehene Urges Ghanaians to Reject False Prophecies Ahead of Elections

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has cautioned Ghanaians to disregard false prophecies that could disrupt national peace and unity as the December elections approach. His message, delivered on November 29 by the Chief of Sewua, Nana Kwaku Amankwa Sarkodie, during an annual prayer gathering, emphasized the importance of safeguarding the nation’s stability during this critical period.

The Asantehene urged religious leaders to focus on promoting harmony rather than engaging in divisive political predictions. He highlighted the potential harm of partisan prophecies, noting that they can sow discord among followers with differing political affiliations. “Ghanaians must focus on what unites us and ignore divisive and false prophecies,” Nana Sarkodie conveyed.

The gathering also included prayers for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate. Meanwhile, schoolchildren in Kumasi organized peace walks, advocating for calm during the elections.

These calls for unity align with the recent peace pact signed by political parties, reaffirming their commitment to a peaceful electoral process. The Asantehene’s message serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to maintain harmony in Ghana.
