East Legon accident: AG to file new charges against Salifu Amoako and 2 others

The State has announced plans to file new charges against Prophet Elisha Salifu Amoako, founder of Alive Chapel International, his wife, Moha, and their domestic worker, Linda Bempah. During a court session on December 5, State Attorney Yaw Acquah informed the court that fresh evidence obtained during investigations necessitates amendments to the charges against the trio.

Acquah explained that the updated charge sheet would be prepared before further disclosures are made, requesting a brief adjournment to finalize the revisions. The defense did not oppose the adjournment but requested the case be rescheduled for January 2025, citing Prophet Amoako’s prior engagements. Presiding Judge Samuel Bright Acquah adjourned the case to January 13, 2025, to allow the prosecution time to amend the charges.

The accused, who have pleaded not guilty, are currently out on GHC 50,000 bail each. They are charged with granting permission to an unlicensed individual to drive. The case stems from an October 12, 2024, incident in which their 16-year-old son, driving a Jaguar F-Pace without a valid license, caused a fatal accident in East Legon. The crash resulted in a fire after the minor’s vehicle collided with an Acura utility vehicle, leading to the deaths of two 12-year-old girls.
