NDC aimed to respond ruthlessly if the NPP had attempted a cyber-attack – Omane Boamah
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Elections and IT, stated that the party was well-prepared to counter any potential cyber-attacks on its election collation system during the 2024 elections. Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on December 11, he said the NDC invested significantly in technology and personnel to safeguard the election process, ensuring its systems were secure.
He noted that the NDC would have responded forcefully to any attempts to breach its system, adding that their vigilance prevented any interference. “We entered this election ready, and we were not going to allow the NPP to cheat us,” he remarked.
To strengthen its election preparedness, the NDC trained 153,000 personnel to safeguard votes and distributed laptops to polling agents for accurate collation. This, he said, marked a significant improvement from 2020, when the party accused the NPP of hacking its system. These measures ensured the NDC’s success in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
Dr. Omane Boamah concluded that the NDC’s investments in IT and personnel were instrumental in securing a transparent and credible electoral process.
