Salaga SHS Shooting: Three Suspects to Appear in Court Today

Salaga, Ghana – February 6, 2025 – Three individuals, including students of Salaga Senior High School, are set to appear before the Salaga Magistrate Court today over their alleged involvement in a campus shooting incident that left several people injured.

The suspects, who also include non-students from the East Gonja Municipality, face charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and causing harm.

The shooting occurred last Saturday during a school entertainment event when a clash broke out between two rival groups of day students from Kpembe and Salaga towns. Reports indicate that one of the students involved in the altercation left the scene but later returned with reinforcements, leading to gunfire.

Following the incident, police arrested 20 individuals on Monday, but 17 were released after screening, leaving the three key suspects to face court proceedings today.

The injured victims were rushed to the Salaga Hospital and later discharged. Concerned parents have been arriving at the school, leading the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) to hold an emergency meeting today to address security concerns and ensure the safety of students.

Authorities are expected to review security measures on campus to prevent future occurrences of violence.
