President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the youth to draw inspiration from the achievements of recipients honored at the National Honours and Awards ceremony. Speaking at the December 30 event, he encouraged young people to emulate the awardees’ dedication to Ghana’s progress, stating, “Let these stories ignite in you a desire to contribute to Ghana in your unique way.”
The National Honours and Awards, established in 1960 under Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, recognize individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions to Ghana’s development. This year’s ceremony also featured the Presidential Honours for Distinguished Service, introduced in 2023 to acknowledge extraordinary efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
President Akufo-Addo commended the resilience and collaboration of citizens, institutions, and partners during the pandemic. Awards presented included the Grand Medal, the Order of the Volta, and the Order of the Star of Ghana, among others.
