John Mahama Submits Ministerial Nominees to Parliament for Vetting

Former President John Dramani Mahama has presented the names of 12 nominees for ministerial positions to Ghana’s Parliament for vetting by the Appointments Committee. The list includes three Regional Ministers and nine Sector Ministers, highlighting a blend of seasoned politicians, professionals, and public servants dedicated to the country’s development.
The nominees, spanning critical sectors and regions, are expected to drive governance, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and economic transformation.
Regional Minister Nominees
- Wilbert Petty Brentum – Western North Region
A chartered accountant and mining expert with experience in local governance, Mr. Brentum previously served as an Assembly Member in the Juaboso District. - Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere – Central Region
An educationist with over 20 years of leadership experience, Mr. Okyere is a two-term MP for Gomoa East and leads the Centre for Artisan and Apprentice Development. - Joseph Nelson – Western Region
A finance and economic policy expert, Mr. Nelson has worked in Ghana and the UK and is a former Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency.

An architect and Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Hon. Agbodza has extensive project management experience in healthcare, education, and housing. - Eric Opoku (MP) – Ministry of Food and Agriculture

A former Minister for Communications and experienced legislator, Hon. Iddrisu has held leadership roles in Parliament, including Majority and Minority Leader. - Ahmed Ibrahim (MP) – Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs
Hon. Ibrahim, a legislator since 2009, has a background in finance and public administration. - Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare (MP) – Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry
A lawyer and former Minister for Tourism, Hon. Adjare has extensive experience in international relations and legal practice.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has formally received the nominations. The Appointments Committee will evaluate the candidates’ qualifications, professional track records, and alignment with national development goals.
