Collins Dauda Appointed Chairman of Committee on Pension Scheme for Former MPs

Accra, Ghana – Collins Dauda, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi South, has been named Chairman of a nine-member committee tasked with determining suitable pension scheme models for former lawmakers.
The committee’s formation follows a proposal by Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, who suggested that proceeds from carbon credits be used to establish a pension scheme for ex-MPs.
During a parliamentary session on Thursday, January 29, Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor announced the composition of the committee and urged it to submit its report within 45 days.
He outlined the committee’s members, ensuring representation from both sides of the House and consideration for gender balance.
“Collins Dauda, of course, will be a member. Samson Ahi will also be a member. Then we are including two first-timers from our side for gender balance—Atta Issah, the MP for Sagnarigu, and Millicent Yeboah Amankwah. Alhassan Suhuyini will also be on the committee,” Dafeamekpor stated.
The Majority side will be represented by Stephen Amoah and Dr. Mahama Tia Kabiru.
Dafeamekpor emphasized that the committee has been given clear terms of reference and a six-week deadline to complete its work, with Collins Dauda appointed as its chairperson.
