Chaos Erupts at Appointments Committee Over Vetting Schedule

Accra, Ghana – A session of the Appointments Committee descended into chaos as a heated disagreement between the Minority and Majority Caucuses over the vetting schedule of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa led to disruptions.

Tensions flared when the Minority proposed rescheduling the vetting to Friday, citing concerns over the day’s proceedings. However, the Majority strongly opposed the move, insisting that the vetting should proceed as planned.

The standoff escalated dramatically, with Minority members disrupting the session by breaking tables and microphones in an attempt to prevent any deviation from what they claimed was an agreed schedule.

In response, the Majority maintained that the committee was following its established procedures and insisted on proceeding with the vetting as scheduled.

As tensions mounted, security personnel were deployed to the conference room to maintain order. The Minority remained resolute, arguing that an agreement had been made to vet only four nominees for the day before adjourning.

With both factions refusing to compromise, the committee’s work ground to a halt, leaving the vetting process in limbo as the dispute remained unresolved.
