Former Labour Minister Ignatius Baffour Awuah Granted GH¢500,000 Bail in Murder Case

Sunyani, Ghana – February 4, 2025 – Former Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢500,000 with two sureties following his arrest in connection with the murder of Kumasi Asante Kotoko supporter, Pooley.
Baffour Awuah, a former Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, appeared before the Sunyani District Magistrate Court B alongside co-accused Joseph Kyeremeh, who was also granted bail. Both suspects are scheduled to reappear in court on Monday, February 17, 2025.
The former minister has been charged with “abetment to commit crime, to wit murder,” under Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Presiding Judge Eric Daning has imposed strict conditions on Baffour Awuah’s bail, including:
- Surrendering his passport to the court registry for the first 14 days.
- Restricted movement, barring him from leaving the Sunyani Municipality without prior court approval.
Meanwhile, Agyemang Duah Owusu, the third suspect in the case, remains in police custody.
Baffour Awuah and the other accused were arrested following violent disturbances during a Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman F.C. and Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Nsoatre, Bono Region.
The case continues to unfold as police investigations progress, with the next court hearing set for February 17, 2025.
