Ablakwa Hails Mahama’s ORAL Initiative as a “Masterstroke”

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, former Chairman of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) and now Foreign Affairs Minister, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for initiating the ORAL Committee, describing it as a “masterstroke” that has significantly reinforced accountability and transparency in governance.
Presenting the ORAL Committee’s report to the president in Accra on Monday, February 10, Ablakwa highlighted the overwhelming public response to the initiative.
“We received 1,493 calls through the toll-free line. We also received 924 emails. Fortunately, all of these calls are recorded automatically, and all the emails have been preserved for verification and validation. So in total, the number of complaints received amounts to 2,417,” he revealed.
Ablakwa emphasized that the volume of complaints was clear proof of the committee’s necessity and effectiveness in addressing public concerns about corruption and mismanagement of state resources.
“So those who had any doubts about how relevant and timely the president’s intervention was at the time—this is your evidence. President Mahama has been vindicated. It was a masterstroke, the right decision for our country, and it has deepened transparency and accountable governance,” he stated.
The ORAL initiative, launched to recover misappropriated public funds and assets, has become a key element in the government’s broader anti-corruption agenda.
