ORAL Committee Receives 2,417 Complaints in Anti-Corruption Drive

The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee has reported receiving a total of 2,417 complaints from individuals and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) as part of its mandate to combat corruption and recover misappropriated public funds.

Committee Chairman, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, disclosed this on Monday, February 10, during the presentation of the committee’s final report to President John Dramani Mahama.

According to Ablakwa, the complaints were received through multiple channels, including:

  • 1,493 calls via the toll-free line, all of which were automatically recorded.
  • 924 emails, which have been preserved for verification and validation.

He stressed the importance of the ORAL initiative, stating that without it, the thousands of petitioners would have had no official channel to report corruption-related concerns.

“So, those who doubted the relevance and timing of the President’s intervention, this is your evidence. 2,417 complaints received. Where would all of these people have gone if President Mahama had not set up the ORAL preparatory team?” he remarked.

The ORAL Committee forms part of broader national efforts to strengthen accountability, curb corruption, and ensure the recovery of state resources lost to fraudulent activities.
