President Mahama to Deliver First State of the Nation Address on February 27

President John Dramani Mahama is set to deliver his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 27, 2025, in accordance with parliamentary programming and constitutional provisions.

The announcement was confirmed by Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, who stated that the President is fully committed to updating the nation on the country’s current state and the administration’s policy direction.

As Ghana navigates a challenging economic landscape, President Mahama is expected to address:

  • Economic recovery efforts, particularly under the ongoing International Monetary Fund (IMF) support program.
  • Energy sector challenges, including efforts to resolve power supply issues.
  • Public sector reforms and plans for job creation.
  • Infrastructure development, security, and social welfare programs.

This will be Mahama’s first SONA in his second term under the 9th Parliament, and it is expected to set the tone for his governance priorities amid Ghana’s current fiscal and economic constraints.
