NPP Minority Slams NIB Over Summons of Chief Whip

Accra, Ghana – February 14, 2025
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus in Parliament has strongly criticized the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for summoning Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh over alleged inciteful remarks.
Mr. Annoh-Dompreh was reportedly summoned after urging NPP supporters in Ablekuma North to stand by their party members in confrontations with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Allegations of Bias
At a press conference in Parliament, Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei described the NIB’s actions as selective justice, questioning why the Minority Chief Whip was swiftly interrogated while other political figures facing similar accusations were not.
She pointed out that the Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, who allegedly threatened the Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s life, had not been questioned.
Mrs. Appiagyei also noted that NDC Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande, who allegedly made similar threats, was not summoned.
“This double standard raises serious concerns about the selective application of justice and the use of state institutions to target specific political figures while others face no consequences,” she said.
Call for Fair Treatment
The NPP Minority Caucus demanded equal application of the law to prevent state institutions from being used as political tools.
“If public remarks are to be scrutinized, then let us ensure that everyone is treated equally and without bias,” Mrs. Appiagyei concluded.
The NIB has yet to respond to the allegations.
