During his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on February 27, Suhuyini stressed that deputy ministers play a crucial role in ministries with heavy workloads, ensuring that governance remains effective.
He noted that debates about the relevance of these roles often stem from individual experiences rather than an objective assessment of their contributions.
Mentorship and Leadership Development
Suhuyini highlighted mentorship as a key reason to maintain deputy ministerial positions. He explained that:

“My personal view is that even as MPs, we have aides, and there is always a need for fallbacks in times of emergencies. The debate on relevance is influenced by varied experiences, but many have received valuable mentorship from the ministers they served under,” he explained.
