Honoring Komla Dumor’s Legacy

The award pays tribute to Komla Dumor, the distinguished Ghanaian broadcaster and BBC World News presenter, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 41. Dumor was widely respected for his dynamic and insightful reporting on African stories.

His widow, Kwansema Dumor, expressed gratitude for the BBC’s continued recognition of her late husband’s impact, stating:

“We are proud of Komla’s legacy, and thankful to the BBC for remembering him through this initiative.”
