Finance Minister Assures Ghanaians of People-Centered Budget Amid Economic Challenges

Accra, March 10, 2025 – Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has assured Ghanaians that the Mahama administration will remain mindful of their needs and ensure that national policies truly reflect their concerns.

Dr. Forson made these remarks after an engagement with traders at Accra’s Central Business District, where he emphasized the government’s commitment to open dialogue and continuous engagement with citizens.

🗣 “We assure you that we will always remain mindful of your needs as a government. We will do all we can to truly represent you. This is just the beginning of many meaningful engagements—we are here to serve you!” he wrote on X.

X Spaces Discussion and Economic Realities

📌 On Sunday, March 9, 2025, Dr. Forson hosted a session on X Spaces, where over 60,000 participants joined the discussion. He acknowledged that Ghana’s economy remains fragile despite ongoing recovery efforts.

⚠️ “Let’s not deceive ourselves that the country is out of the woods yet. Our economy is still in distress, and the first thing we need to do is restore stability,” he cautioned.

Government’s Plan for Economic Stability

🔹 Controlling inflation to maintain purchasing power.
🔹 Ensuring a stable exchange rate to protect businesses and consumers.
🔹 Reducing government borrowing to free up resources for the private sector.
🔹 Cutting government expenditure to foster sustainable growth.

📌 “It is very critical for the government to cut expenditure and reduce its appetite for borrowing. In doing so, there will be a lot more resources for the private sector to benefit from,” Dr. Forson added.

As the 2025 Budget presentation approaches, Ghanaians are keenly awaiting policies that will drive economic stability, job creation, and business-friendly reforms.
