
Asankragwa, Western Region – March 12, 2025 – The Asankragwa Magistrate Court has directed the Ghana Police Service to release GH¢37,000 paid by Daniel Baidoo, the prime suspect in the recent attack on Citi FM and Channel One TV’s Western Regional Correspondent, Akwasi Agyei Annim.
Baidoo, allegedly linked to a family involved in the sale of Adomanya land to illegal miners, is accused of leading a group of galamsey operators in a violent attack on Annim and two other journalists on February 12, 2025. The journalists were in the area, accompanied by police personnel, to report on illegal mining activities when the attack occurred.
Court’s Decision
At its last sitting on March 5, 2025, the court ruled that Baidoo must compensate the journalists for the destruction of their equipment, including:

💻 Laptops
📱 Phones
Although Baidoo has paid the required GH¢37,000 to the police, reports indicate that the money has not yet been released to Annim.
Ongoing Investigations
Meanwhile, the court has issued a bench warrant for four other suspects who remain at large. The journalists involved have also been directed to appear at the next hearing on March 26, 2025.
