Police Seize Truck with Suspected ECG Electrical Cables at Gomoa Awombrew

Gomoa Awombrew, Ghana – April 2025 – The Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command has intercepted a truck loaded with electrical cables, suspected to be part of the missing containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at Tema Port.

The vehicle, registered GC 7410-11, was seized at Gomoa Awombrew in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.

Circumstances of the Arrest

According to Citi News sources, the truck broke down near Awombrew in Agona Swedru, raising suspicion among locals. Upon inspection, police discovered the electrical cables and immediately took action.

Ongoing Investigation

The driver and three passengers onboard the truck were arrested and are currently in police custody. Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the origin and intended destination of the seized cargo.

This development comes amid heightened scrutiny over the disappearance of ECG’s missing containers, sparking concerns over the possible theft and illegal distribution of vital electrical materials.
