Parliamentary Committee Ready to Support Ntim Fordjour in Drug Trafficking Allegations at KIA

Accra, April 7, 2025 – The Vice Chairman of the Defense and Interior Committee in Parliament, Superintendent Peter Lanchenie Toobu, has affirmed the Committee’s readiness to back Rev. Ntim Fordjour should he be required to provide evidence regarding his recent drug trafficking allegations at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

Speaking on Burning Issues, Mr. Toobu emphasized that while Committee members are bound by confidentiality rules, Rev. Fordjour breached protocol by publicly disclosing sensitive security information.

The Allegations

🔹 Rev. Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of the Defense and Interior Committee, recently claimed that intelligence reports suggested that an air ambulance and a private jet from Gran Canaria, Spain—a region known for drug trafficking and money laundering—had landed at KIA on March 12 under questionable circumstances.

🔹 In response, Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu dismissed the allegations and challenged Fordjour to provide evidence to substantiate his claims.

Committee’s Response & Violation of Protocol

Mr. Toobu, also the MP for Wa West, acknowledged that Fordjour’s public disclosure violated the rules of the Defense and Interior Committee, explaining:

🗣️ “When it comes to security, members on the Defense and Interior Committee are not supposed to go public no matter what information they have. The information is shared with the Committee and the Minister, and where members are not satisfied, it is taken to the floor of Parliament.”

🔹 He cited the example of Kennedy Agyapong, who, despite being known for his outspokenness, remained discreet while serving as the Chairman of the Committee.

Support for Fordjour & Awaiting Evidence

Despite the breach, Toobu assured that the Committee will stand by Fordjour if he is required to provide evidence.

🗣️ “Rev. Ntim Fordjour is still a member of the Committee, and we will rally behind him if he is invited to provide evidence for his claims of drug trafficking and money laundering at the airport.”

🔎 Key Questions:
✅ Will Fordjour provide concrete evidence to support his allegations?
✅ If the allegations are proven, what actions will be taken against those involved?
✅ If no evidence emerges, will Rev. Fordjour face consequences for making unsubstantiated claims?

What’s Next?

📌 The matter could escalate to a full-scale investigation, with security agencies potentially probing the alleged illegal activities at KIA.
