Ghana Immigration Service Intercepts 25 Bags of Smuggled Cocoa Beans at Togo Border

Bunkpurugu, Northeast Region – April 7, 2025 – Immigration officers at the Bunkpurugu Sector Command have intercepted 25 bags of cocoa beans being smuggled into Togo through an unapproved route.

πŸ”Ή Operation took place at 22:00 hours on Sunday after a tip-off.

πŸ”Ή Led by Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Rev. Edwin Adjetey Doku, with his Operations Commander and eight other officers.

πŸ”Ή Two unregistered motor kings transporting cocoa beans were seized.

πŸ”Ή 25 individuals on board the vehicles were arrested.

πŸ”Ή Seized goods are in the custody of the Ghana Immigration Service and will be handed over to Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division) for further action.
