Ayariga Pledges Parliament’s Support for Economic Growth and Job Creation

KWAHU, April 20, 2025Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has pledged Parliament’s full backing for President John Dramani Mahama’s agenda to spur economic growth and foster equitable job opportunities across Ghana.

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, Ayariga emphasized that Parliament’s various committees will work in close collaboration with sector ministers and private businesses to identify challenges and develop strategic solutions.

“The private sector is an engine of growth, and the business leaders are the drivers and operators of the engine. They are the job creators, and they are the innovators that we must nurture, grow, and sustain. And this platform demonstrates Your Excellency’s commitment to this very task,” Ayariga told participants, which included top business executives and financial sector stakeholders.

He assured President Mahama of Parliament’s readiness to actively support his development agenda.

“Your Parliament—the Parliament of Ghana, the people’s Parliament—stands ready to do whatever it takes to support your agenda, to ensure growth, and create jobs that are equitable,” he declared.

The Majority Leader added that parliamentary committees will take an active oversight role, working with ministries and enterprises to shape impactful policies and monitor their execution.

“Our various committees will support their sector ministers and the enterprises that work with those sectors to identify their challenges, fashion out appropriate recommendations to help them solve those challenges, and we will monitor your ministers to ensure that they are delivering according to the promises you made to Ghanaians,” he noted.

Ayariga concluded by highlighting Parliament’s role in ensuring the incubation and development of businesses across the country, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive economic empowerment.

“Parliament will also monitor and ensure the implementation of the promises to incubate and develop enterprises across the country,” he affirmed.

The forum, held under the theme “Empowering Ghana’s Private Sector for Sustainable Development”, is part of a broader initiative to align government policy with private sector ambitions for economic transformation.
