The High Court in Accra has ordered prison authorities to produce the founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, in court as she and three others are set to open their defence in a separate criminal case.
This directive follows the court’s ruling on a submission of no case filed by Agradaa’s legal team. The court dismissed the application, stating that the accused persons have a case to answer and must open their defence.
Nana Agradaa, currently serving a 15-year jail sentence for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence, was absent from the courtroom on Monday, July 7, 2025. The prosecution explained that she remains in lawful custody at Nsawam Prison.
“We requested a warrant for her to be brought to court any time the case is called,” a prosecutor told the court after the judge inquired about her absence.
Her lawyer, Richard Adade Baffour, pleaded for an adjournment until she could be present, but the court proceeded and ordered that the prison authorities ensure she is present at the next sitting.
The court further directed that all witness statements be filed within two weeks and scheduled July 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. for the Case Management Conference (CMC), during which Agradaa and her co-accused are expected to open their defence.
Background
Nana Agradaa and three others—Enock Owusu Kissi, 33; Charles Omane, alias One Gig, 39; and Emmanuel Kofi Gyasi, 47—face charges for allegedly sharing nude images of Prophet Emmanuel Appiah Fomum.
Agradaa faces four charges, including possession of obscene material and non-consensual sharing of intimate images under Ghana’s Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038). Her co-accused face charges of abetment and conspiracy to commit crimes related to the unlawful distribution of intimate images.
According to court filings, the alleged offence occurred during Agradaa’s Yi Wasum programme, formerly aired on Thunder TV—now rebranded as Today’s TV—and simultaneously streamed on YouTube and Facebook. Prosecutors say she displayed nude images of Prophet Fomum on-air and later shared the images via WhatsApp.
The co-accused, who appeared as panellists, allegedly made derogatory remarks about the prophet’s nudity during the programme.
The case had initially been dismissed by the Circuit Court but was refiled by state prosecutors at the High Court.
The case resumes on July 30, 2025.
