Ghana’s National Security Intensifies Manhunt for Counterfeit Syndicate Kingpin

Accra, Ghana – April 6, 2025 – The National Security Secretariat has confirmed that the manhunt is still ongoing for the alleged mastermind behind a sophisticated counterfeiting syndicate busted in Sapeiman, Accra.

During a press tour of the crime scene, Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations, described the evidence found as “overwhelming” and emphasized that it has been left untouched to preserve its integrity for further investigations.

Uncovering the Counterfeit Operation

📌 Secret Hideout: The illicit operation was cleverly hidden inside an uncompleted building, disguised by an elderly man running a battery-charging shop to deflect suspicion.

📌 Investigators found fake gold bars, many of which had peeled off to expose a silver-colored metal beneath.

Hunt for the Mastermind

Security operatives have linked the operation to a well-organized criminal network led by a man known only as “Alhaji”, who remains at large.

🗣️ “We have solid evidence connecting Alhaji to the crime scene and the broader network of illegal activities,” Jakpa stated.

He assured the public that National Security is actively tracking his movements and is confident of his imminent arrest.

Security Implications & Next Steps

The discovery has raised serious concerns about financial security and the infiltration of national institutions by criminal elements.

National Security has vowed to:
🔹 Strengthen surveillance systems to prevent future counterfeiting activities.
🔹 Bring all culprits to justice and dismantle the entire criminal network.
