Dr. Wisdom Kofi Dogbey has been named the new Managing Director of the Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC), a subsidiary of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) tasked with overseeing the marketing and sale of Ghana’s cocoa on both local and international platforms.

Dr. Dogbey, a seasoned transformational and strategic funding executive, brings to the role over 20 years of global experience spanning corporate finance, investment management, global banking, and infrastructure development. His appointment signals a renewed push to strengthen Ghana’s cocoa marketing efforts, promote value addition, and boost the country’s global competitiveness in the cocoa trade.

Before joining CMC, Dr. Dogbey served in high-level roles at major U.S. financial institutions. At Truist Bank, he held the position of CFO for Consumer and Small Business Cards. He also drove a $220 million revenue increase by optimizing international exchange rate programs.

His impressive portfolio also includes senior positions at Bank of America and Wells Fargo Bank, where he oversaw multibillion-dollar budgets and led initiatives that enhanced operational efficiency and achieved significant cost savings across multiple banking divisions.

Dr. Dogbey’s roots in Ghana’s financial sector include conducting feasibility studies and financial audits at Deloitte and the Volta River Authority. His career has consistently focused on fostering economic development and promoting public-private partnerships.

He holds a Doctor of Humanities from Good News International University, a Doctor in Ministry (Ministerial Leadership) from BMI University, an MBA in Finance from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance from the University of Ghana. He has also completed executive education at Harvard Business School in Leadership and Generative AI for Business Leaders.

Outside his corporate responsibilities, Dr. Dogbey is a passionate advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and has frequently appeared as an economic policy analyst on Ghanaian media. He is also the founder of Heaven’s Relief, a U.S.-based NGO dedicated to poverty alleviation and skills development across Ghana, Kenya, and Uganda.

His appointment comes at a critical time for Ghana’s cocoa sector, which is contending with climate-related challenges, price volatility, and growing calls to enhance farmer incomes and welfare.
