Minority Petitions CHRAJ, CID, OSP Over Dollar Gift Involving Gold Board CEO Sammy Gyamfi

Accra, May 15, 2025 – The Minority in Parliament has officially petitioned CHRAJ, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate the controversial dollar gift involving Acting Ghana Gold Board CEO, Sammy Gyamfi.

The move comes a day after President John Dramani Mahama declared the matter resolved, having accepted Mr. Gyamfi’s public apology and issued a caution without initiating further disciplinary action.

However, the Minority strongly opposes the President’s decision, insisting that independent investigations are necessary to uphold public accountability and integrity.

Leading the petition is Mumuni Mohammed Nurudeen, MP for Nalerigu/Gambaga, who is joined by Minority Whip Habib Iddrisu and NPP Deputy General Secretary Haruna Mohammed.

The petitioners argue that Mr. Gyamfi’s conduct—his dollar gift to Patricia Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, now an evangelist—raises significant ethical and legal concerns that go beyond the scope of a mere apology.

“The institutions must thoroughly examine the matter to determine whether Mr. Gyamfi violated any public service ethics, administrative codes, or anti-corruption laws,” they stated.

The Minority maintains that the outcome of these investigations should guide any final decision on Mr. Gyamfi’s continued service in public office.

The petition escalates public interest in the saga, which has already sparked national debate on standards of accountability and the proper handling of misconduct in state institutions.
