Savannah Regional Minister Warns MMDCEs to Strictly Adhere to President Mahama’s Directives

The Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe, has issued a firm warning to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region, urging them to strictly follow President John Dramani Mahama’s directives as part of efforts to fulfill the government’s reset agenda. He cautioned that any official found flouting these directives risks losing their position.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony for the newly confirmed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole, Abdulai Mahamud, in Damongo, Mr. Be-Awuribe reiterated his commitment to ensuring development in the Savannah Region regardless of political or personal affiliations.

“We have no justification whatsoever to delay in the execution of our duties. I am here in the region, ready and willing to monitor all your activities. I know we are friends, party men, and brothers, but when it comes to our work and the President’s directives, we mince no words. We will not spare any situation to ensure that the best—and nothing but the best—comes from the Savannah Region,” he declared.

He reminded the new Bole DCE that being the last of the seven to be confirmed should not serve as an excuse for delayed performance. Instead, he encouraged Mahamud to move beyond the confirmation process and immediately engage stakeholders to drive district development.

According to Mr. Be-Awuribe, the President has appointed competent individuals across key positions to facilitate smooth governance and accelerate progress in the region. Therefore, excuses for lapses in duty execution would not be entertained.

In his response, Abdulai Mahamud expressed deep appreciation to President Mahama for the opportunity to serve and assured the people of Bole of his commitment to inclusive and results-driven leadership.

“I promise to be a servant to the good people of Bole District. I also pledge to use the existing structures to work. And so, wherever you (Be-Awuribe) see and think I’m going wrong, kindly point it out to me and bring me back into the fold,” he said.
