Speaking to the media on Thursday, May 22, 2025, Opoku-Agyemang acknowledged what she described as the “infinite mercies of God”, crediting divine intervention as central to her recovery.

“I want to say thanks to God. His mercies have been infinite as always, and I am very grateful,” she said.

She further extended gratitude to the medical team that managed her care, both locally and abroad, commending them for their professionalism and prudent decisions throughout her treatment.

“I express gratitude to the medical staff too, for seeing the right thing, for making right proposals,” she remarked.

Mahama Family Praised for Support

The Vice President also singled out President John Dramani Mahama for his timely and critical intervention during a pivotal moment in her medical journey.

“That day, I don’t know where you appeared from, but you came and quickly set in motion what we needed to do,” she recalled with emotion.

She paid special tribute to Ibrahim Mahama, the President’s younger brother, describing his presence and support as a healing balm.

“He stopped at nothing to ensure that I had what I needed. He also came to the hospital, and that was healing enough,” she said.

Opoku-Agyemang had initially sought consultation at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) before traveling abroad for further medical attention. Her return signals the end of her medical leave and a resumption of full duties as Vice President.

Her comeback has been warmly received by supporters and members of the public, many of whom had expressed concern during her absence and extended well wishes throughout her recovery.
