Mohamed Salah Named Premier League Player of the Season, Gravenberch Takes Young Player Honour

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been crowned Premier League Player of the Season, securing the accolade for the second time in his career after a dominant individual campaign that saw him steer the Reds to the league title.
The 32-year-old Egyptian first won the award in the 2017-18 season and has now reclaimed it following a stellar 2024/25 campaign, edging out a competitive shortlist that included Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood. The award was determined by a combination of public votes and a panel of football experts.
Salah, who is also this season’s Golden Boot winner, has scored 28 league goals, five more than any other player, and provided 18 assists, six more than his closest challenger. He is just two assists shy of the record 20 held jointly by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
New Records and Contract Extension
In addition to his award-winning form, Salah made history this season by becoming the highest-scoring overseas player in Premier League history, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s tally of 184 goals. His future at Anfield was also secured with a new two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2027.
This month, Salah also won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year for the third time, receiving an overwhelming 90% of the votes, underlining his widespread acclaim.
Ryan Gravenberch Wins Young Player of the Season
Ryan Gravenberch, Salah’s Liverpool teammate, was named Young Player of the Season. The 23-year-old Dutchman leads all Premier League midfielders with 59 interceptions and ranks highest among Liverpool players for possession won.
He beat competition from notable young talents including Cole Palmer (Chelsea), William Saliba (Arsenal), Anthony Elanga (Nottingham Forest), and Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa).
This season’s honours also mark a notable shift—it is the first time since 2018-19 that a Manchester City player has not won the top award.
Salah and Gravenberch will look to cap their extraordinary seasons on a high when Liverpool host Crystal Palace on Sunday in the final match of the season.
