Gomoa East Assembly Supports Injured Officers in Violent Clash with Suspected Drug Users

GOMOA DOMINASE | May 28, 2025 — The Gomoa East District Assembly has donated GHC 6,000 to three security officers who sustained serious injuries during a violent clash with suspected drug users, locally known as “ghetto boys,” at the Gomoa Dominase Junction.

Each officer received GHC 2,000 to aid in their recovery following the incident, which occurred during a joint police operation and decongestion exercise by the Assembly. The confrontation tragically resulted in the death of one civilian and left two police officers and one immigration officer with injuries.

Injuries and Arrests

Police sources say the officers suffered deep head wounds, with one Police Intelligence Department (PID) officer sustaining a stab wound in the lower abdomen from broken bottles.

Six individuals linked to the attack have been remanded into custody by the Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court as investigations continue.

DCE’s Assurance and Condolences

In an interview with Adom News, Gomoa East District Chief Executive (DCE), Margaret Naana Ackon, confirmed that all three injured officers have been discharged from the Police Hospital, though one officer is still unable to walk due to the severity of his injuries.

“As an Assembly, we supported each of the officers with GHC 2,000 for their upkeep. We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased,” Madam Ackon stated.

She also urged Ghanaians to remember the injured officers in their prayers and affirmed the Assembly’s solidarity with the security services.

“We will continue to support the police and immigration officers as they work to restore safety and order in our communities,” she added.

The incident underscores ongoing tensions between law enforcement and illegal occupants of public spaces, particularly in areas affected by drug-related activities. Authorities have vowed to remain vigilant and pursue justice as they crack down on lawlessness.
