CMC MD Dr. Wisdom Dogbey Deepens Strategic Cocoa Partnership with OFI During Kumasi Visit

KUMASI | May 2025 — In a bid to strengthen industry partnerships and boost economic growth, Dr. Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, the newly appointed Managing Director of the Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC), has paid a strategic visit to OFI Food Ingredients (OFI), a key player in the global cocoa value chain and one of CMC’s major clients.

The high-level visit took place at OFI’s state-of-the-art cocoa processing and warehousing facility in Kumasi, where both teams engaged in meaningful discussions and toured the plant to explore avenues for deeper collaboration.

Dr. Dogbey, who is on a mission to revitalize Ghana’s cocoa trade, emphasized the shared goals between the two organizations, particularly around innovation, product quality, sustainability, and farmer empowerment.

“As two leading entities in the cocoa sector, we have a unique opportunity to collaborate in ways that grow our companies and positively impact Ghana’s economy,” Dr. Dogbey noted.

“We must explore innovative and effective approaches to build a more resilient and prosperous cocoa supply chain.”

The discussions highlighted joint initiatives that could include improvements in operational efficiency, value addition to cocoa products, and support for cocoa farmers through responsible sourcing and corporate social responsibility projects.

Dr. Dogbey praised OFI’s longstanding commitment to sustainability, aligning closely with CMC’s renewed agenda of responsible cocoa trading and farmer welfare.

“We are committed to ensuring that our cocoa beans are sourced responsibly and that our farmers receive the support they need,” Dr. Dogbey said during the factory tour.

In turn, OFI’s leadership reaffirmed their support for Ghana’s cocoa industry and their appreciation for the deepening relationship with CMC.

“We value our relationship with CMC and recognize the vital role Ghana’s cocoa producers play in our supply chain. Together, we can drive sustainable growth and create lasting impact in the communities we serve,” said a representative of OFI.

Both teams also shared insights into market trends and changing consumer demands, recognizing the need for agility and innovation in a dynamic global market.

“In today’s fast-paced environment, continuous innovation is key to enhancing our products and services to remain competitive on the world stage,” Dr. Dogbey emphasized.

As the visit concluded, both parties pledged to forge a stronger and more strategic partnership, rooted in shared values and a mutual commitment to national development. Dr. Dogbey expressed optimism that with such alliances, Ghana can solidify its position as a leader in sustainable cocoa production and export.

This engagement marks a critical step in CMC’s broader vision to transform Ghana’s cocoa sector into a modern, sustainable, and globally competitive industry.
