OSP Raids SML Offices Over Controversial Government Contract as Probe Deepens

Accra, Ghana – June 11, 2025
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has carried out a court-ordered search at the offices of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) in Accra, as investigations into the company’s controversial government contract reach an advanced stage.
The operation, conducted with support from National Security personnel, simultaneously targeted SML’s facilities in Osu and Tema. According to sources familiar with the probe, the OSP is particularly focused on accessing and retrieving electronic data from the company’s servers, which are believed to contain vital information related to the transaction under scrutiny.
This development forms part of a broader anti-corruption drive aimed at uncovering alleged financial irregularities in contracts involving SML and state institutions.

The search comes at a time when the OSP is struggling to engage former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who has been linked to the controversial SML deal. The Special Prosecutor has declared Mr. Ofori-Atta a fugitive from justice, citing his persistent refusal to respond to official summons for questioning.
The former minister’s family has, however, condemned the OSP’s actions, labelling them a “premeditated vendetta” and challenging the legal basis of an INTERPOL Red Notice issued against him.
As pressure mounts, both civil society groups and legal analysts are calling for transparency and impartiality in the ongoing investigations, which continue to shake public trust in governance.
