AUCB Final-Year Students Shine at 2025 Capstone Presentations with Real-World Solutions
Accra, June 14, 2025 — The Africa University of Communications and Business (AUCB), in collaboration with the HBCU Africa Coalition (HAEC), has successfully held its 2025 Capstone Project Presentations, showcasing the ingenuity, creativity, and solution-oriented thinking of its graduating students.
The event, held on Tuesday, June 11, on AUCB’s campus, marked the conclusion of a year-long academic journey that emphasizes real-world impact over traditional academic theses. The Capstone Project replaces the conventional long essay with a dynamic, community-focused, and results-driven assignment.

A distinguished evaluation panel — including the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Chair of the Governing Council, faculty from AUCB and HAEC, and industry experts — reviewed the student presentations, which addressed a wide range of societal challenges.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Abeku Blankson applauded the Capstone model’s relevance in today’s academic and professional climate.
“This exercise moves away from the age-old practice of lengthy dissertations that often gather dust. Instead, we focus on equipping our students with real-world problem-solving skills to prepare them for the demands of the modern workforce,” he stated.
The six-credit Capstone course spans two semesters: research and proposal development in the first, followed by implementation, monitoring, and final presentation in the second. The course encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, creativity, and applied knowledge in fields such as journalism, business administration, media, development communication, and visual arts.

This year’s projects featured a broad spectrum of impactful themes — from youth unemployment and plastic pollution to mental health advocacy and rural entrepreneurship. Students employed various formats including documentaries, digital media campaigns, posters, and strategic communication tools.
Evaluators commended the programme’s innovative approach to tertiary education, urging other institutions to adopt similar models that prioritize practical learning.
The Capstone programme continues to affirm AUCB’s commitment to transforming education into a powerful tool for national development — a mission shared by its partner, the HBCU Africa Coalition.
