Paul Adom-Otchere remains in custody over failure to meet OSP bail conditions

Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, remains in custody after failing to meet bail conditions set by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), despite being officially granted bail.
Mr. Adom-Otchere, together with Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive for Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems, is facing charges related to an ongoing OSP investigation into a revenue assurance contract at GACL.
The probe centres on alleged procurement breaches involving the sole-sourcing of a contract to a private company reportedly linked to the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). Investigators are examining whether the contract was awarded without proper Board approval and in contravention of public procurement regulations.
Although Mr. Adom-Otchere was granted bail, he has been unable to fulfil one of the key conditions—the presentation of two landed properties registered in his name. He has reportedly informed the OSP that he does not own any such properties in Ghana, resulting in his continued detention until alternative arrangements are made or the conditions are revised.
The detention status of the two other accused persons remains undisclosed, though they are said to be cooperating with the investigation.
The case has drawn wide public attention due to Mr. Adom-Otchere’s high-profile role at GACL and his presence in Ghana’s media landscape. The OSP has indicated that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
