Calm has returned to Sampa in the Bono Region following violent chieftaincy-related disturbances that broke out on September 10, 2025, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ghana Police Service confirmed that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) had deployed reinforcement teams to the area to quell the violence and restore order.
The clashes, which stemmed from a long-standing chieftaincy dispute, triggered fear and tension among residents.
“The Police have since restored calm, beefed up security and intensified patrols within Sampa and surrounding communities,” the statement read.
While investigations are ongoing, the Police have not yet released the identities of the deceased or the injured. Authorities say their immediate priority is to prevent any further escalation of the conflict.
The Service also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring peace and security in communities affected by traditional leadership disputes, which remain flashpoints for unrest in parts of the country.
