The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East, Lawyer Emelia Ankomah, has cut sod for the construction of three mechanised boreholes to tackle long-standing water challenges in Denkyira Kyekyewere, the second-largest community in the municipality.
Under the project, two boreholes will be constructed in Denkyira Kyekyewere and one in Denkyira Nsenseamu, with completion expected within a month. The initiative aims to provide residents with a reliable and sustainable source of clean drinking water.
Speaking after the ceremony, Lawyer Ankomah said access to safe water is a basic human right, stressing that while the intervention may not fully resolve the area’s water crisis, it will significantly reduce the community’s daily struggles.
The Chief of Denkyira Kyekyewere, Nana Kwame Nipa II, and the Assembly Member for Kyekyewere East, Kwabena Boateng, expressed deep appreciation to the MP, noting that water scarcity remains the area’s most pressing challenge. They expressed optimism that the project will bring lasting relief once completed.
