Bryan Acheampong: “Delegates, Not MPs, Will Decide NPP Flagbearer”

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr Bryan Acheampong, has emphasised that it is the delegates—not Members of Parliament (MPs)—who will decide the party’s next presidential candidate.

Speaking during his constituency tour in Achiase, Eastern Region, Dr Acheampong responded to a press conference by the Bawumia campaign team, which announced that 15 out of 23 MPs in the region had endorsed the former Vice President.

🗳️ “It’s the Base That Matters”

Downplaying the weight of the endorsements, Dr Acheampong told supporters that the true power lies with the grassroots.

“There are 20,000 strong delegates in this region who will vote. Fifteen MPs pale in comparison. It is the base of the party that counts, and that base is with me,” he declared to a charged crowd.

The Abetifi MP noted that his campaign is anchored on broad grassroots support, which he believes represents the real strength of the NPP.

🌍 Vision of Renewal

Dr Acheampong reiterated his vision of inclusiveness and renewal, pledging to empower the base of the party and ensure that no delegate is left behind.

He maintained that his leadership would prioritise the voices of ordinary party members, ensuring they remain at the centre of the NPP’s future.
