Sam George Hails DStv’s New Offer as “Unprecedented” for Ghanaian Subscribers

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has described as “unprecedented” MultiChoice Africa’s latest move to give Ghanaian DStv subscribers between 33% and 50% more value, dismissing suggestions that similar offers had been rolled out in the past.
Speaking in an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View, Mr. George stressed that the new concession was designed specifically for the Ghanaian market.
“I have heard people say that DStv has done this before; that is not correct. That is why the presser I did, I said this is unprecedented in DStv’s own marketing modules,” he clarified.
The Minister explained that previous DStv promotions were limited-time offers that only applied to active subscribers who renewed before expiry, and lasted just one month.
“What DStv has normally done is that you must be an active subscriber, you must renew before the expiration of your current subscription, and you enjoy it for only one month. What we have done with them is a bouquet agonistic,” he added.
Mr. George emphasised that the government remains committed to fairness in pay-TV pricing and service delivery, assuring Ghanaians that ongoing engagements with MultiChoice are focused on securing lasting consumer-friendly reforms in the satellite television sector.
