Ghana Records Single-Digit Inflation for First Time in Four Years

Ghana’s consumer price inflation has fallen into single digits for the first time since August 2021, extending a nine-month streak of declines and bringing relief to households and businesses.
According to the Ghana Statistical Service, the year-on-year rate eased to 9.4% in September 2025, down from 11.5% in August. The slowdown was mainly driven by a sharp drop in food prices, with food inflation falling to 11%, compared to 14.8% in August. Non-food inflation also edged down to 8.2% from 8.7%.
The steady decline means inflation has already beaten government’s full-year target, raising hopes of greater monetary policy stability, exchange rate resilience, and stronger consumer confidence as the country moves into the final quarter of the year.
The milestone marks a significant turnaround after years of steep price hikes that placed heavy burdens on households and strained business operations.
