Sylvia Owusu-Ankomah Appointed CEO of Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications and Digital Chamber of Ghana

The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (GCT) and the Digital Chamber of Ghana (DCG) have announced the appointment of Sylvia Owusu-Ankomah as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2025.
With nearly 20 years of leadership experience in Ghana’s telecommunications, digital, and FMCG sectors, Sylvia brings extensive industry expertise and a strong record of building partnerships and driving transformational change.
Career Highlights
Sylvia’s career spans senior roles in MTN Ghana, Tigo (Millicom Ghana), AirtelTigo (AT Ghana), and Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC (Diageo/Castel Group).
- At MTN Ghana, she was instrumental in securing the 3G License and Submarine Cable Landing rights, positioning MTN as a market leader in data services.
- At AirtelTigo, she led regulatory engagement and stakeholder management during Ghana’s landmark telecom merger and supported the acquisition of an EMI License from the Bank of Ghana.
- She also served as a Council Member of the GCT, gaining firsthand experience in industry advocacy and governance.
- Beyond telecoms, she served on the Board of Trustees of GIFEC and as an Advisory Board Member of the Ghana Innovation Hub, contributing to digital inclusion, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
- Most recently, at Guinness Ghana, she spearheaded corporate relations, policy advocacy, sustainability, and communications, ensuring regulatory stability, advancing local sourcing, and strengthening the company’s sustainability agenda.

Her appointment comes after the successful conclusion of Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey’s tenure in June 2025, following nearly eight years of service. The Council commended his leadership in establishing strong advocacy platforms and laying the foundation for the Digital Chamber.

Sylvia holds an MBA in Management from Coventry University (UK), a Public Policy Analysis certification from the London School of Economics, and a Leading Sustainable Corporations certification from Oxford University’s Saïd Business School.
